Emergency Communication Millage Language

PROPOSITION TO INCREASE THE TAX LIMITATION TO PROVIDE FUNDING TO IMPROVE THE COUNTY ENHANCED EMERGENCY COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM BY CONSTRUCTING ADDITIONAL TOWERS, UPGRADING THE EXISTING INFRASTRUCTURE AND PURCHASING THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT

“Shall the limitation on the amount of taxes which may be imposed each year for all purposes on real and tangible personal property in Washtenaw County, Michigan be increased as provided in Section 6, Article IX of the Michigan Constitution and the Board of Commissioners of the County be authorized to levy a tax not to exceed two tenths of one mill $0.20 per $1000 of state taxable valuation for a period of ten years, beginning with the December 1, 2006 tax levy, (which will generate estimated revenues of $2,705,238 in the first year) to acquire, construct, renovate, maintain and operate an upgrade to the County’s Enhanced Emergency Communications System, including constructing additional towers, upgrading the existing infrastructure, purchasing necessary equipment, and paying for maintenance and user fees?”
