Also, in December of 2017 the Project Oversight Committee approved the membership of Washtenaw Community College to the Washtenaw Emergency Communications Consortium. The Consortium can now provide both mobile and portable Motorola APX radios to their department. This will increase public safety for all students and faculty of the college. The Washtenaw Community College Public Safety Department will now have direct radio communications with Metro Dispatch, and the many other police and fire departments that surround the college.
