Back Up Dispatch Center for Washtenaw County

A new backup dispatch communications center was approved by the Project Oversite Committee in 2023.  The backup dispatch center will serve all police, fire, and EMS dispatch centers in the Washtenaw County.  This will provide for redundant capabilities for the dispatch centers in the event of situation that requires a dispatch center to abandon their respective facilities.  The center will have the ability to receive 911 calls for service from the public, along with the capability of being to communicate with units in the field.  The backup center will also be used as a training center for dispatchers.  This will include the ability to have mock exercises to increase dispatchers competency level in addressing emergency situations.

The construction of the backup center has been completed, and is currently equipped with the 911 equipment need to accept emergency calls for service.  We anticipate the delivery radio console equipment being delivered and installed sometime in 2024.
